Watching the Hot Air Balloons above Turkey

One thing we knew we had to see on this trip was the hot air balloons in Cappadocia, Turkey. It was a bucket list item for us, and it was more beautiful than we imagined. The balloons set off in the small town of Cappadocia super early in the morning, and we had no idea where to go to get the best view. So, we found a guide who would take us. We went to bed super early and woke up at 4 a.m. to get ready and reach the balloons before sunrise. The morning was very cold, but it was so worth it. We stopped and watched the balloons get ready, and they were much bigger than I had thought—they held 30 people in a single one! We watched them take off from the ground, then we drove to the top of a hill a bit farther away to get a great view of the hundreds of balloons. It was magical watching the sunrise light up all the colors of the balloons over the valleys and mountains. It was something I’ll never forget seeing with my own eyes.
