Santorini

Our first day in Santorini, we decided to explore the two main cities. The first one was Oia, known for its famous blue-domed roofs that everyone takes pictures of. We got some delicious breakfast and walked around the town, exploring the streets, shops, beautiful architecture, and plants. We took many great pictures from the best spots where you could see the coastline and all the houses and buildings going up the hill. This city was so beautiful, and we loved every second of it.

We then drove down to Fira, where we had lunch and did some more exploring. This city isn’t as popular but is just as beautiful. The next day, we decided to have a beach day, so we drove down to the south side of the island, where there was a very beautiful beach club that had amazing food and drinks. We ate lunch, then got a sunbed to tan and relax all day. We swam in the ocean at one point, but the water was freezing. The sand was super cool because it was black, although it was also super rocky and not the most comfortable to walk on, but still beautiful. Overall, Santorini was absolutely gorgeous, and I would love to visit again one day and explore more of the island.

Zakynthos

Zakynthos is another small island in Greece that we learned was the “Party Island,” so we had to visit on the weekend and see for ourselves. When we first arrived, it was pretty late, and there were people all up and down the street where we were staying. Apparently, this was the party street, and we quickly learned that when we wanted to go to bed, all we could hear were people screaming. It was fine, though; all we did the next day was enjoy the perfect weather and lay on the beach. We had a delicious lunch on the beach, rented some chairs right by the water, and got a good tan. The sand here was actually white and not rocky like in Santorini, and the ocean was a bit warmer too, which made it much more enjoyable.

The next day, we took a tour around the island by bus and by boat. We saw beautiful lookouts before heading to the dock and getting on a boat that took us around the island to see the beautiful blue caves, hidden beaches, and Shipwreck Beach. Yes, there is an actual shipwreck on a beach; it was left there on purpose by the Italian mafia when they were trying to outrun the police waiting for them on the shore. We went home after this and got ready to go out for the night. Since we were already staying on the popular street, we just walked down it, people-watched, and picked out where we wanted to go. We stopped at two places and had a super fun night that ended with us eating pizza, which happened to be the best pizza we have ever eaten. This was a great way to end our stay in Greece!
